Vision Statement: "All humanity lives in a spiritual consciousness that manifests as loving coexistence with all creation and care for the oneness of all life."

Welcome to the Christ Church Unity Green Team. Ours is a prayer-based ministry. Many of us have been called by Holy Spirit to reverently do what we can to help nurture our beloved earth. Together, we create our vision, hear what is ours to do, and then act with deep intention.

Do know that Christ Church Unity is the very first Unity Church in the U.S.A. to be formally awarded the Unity EarthCare Congregation Program certificate of completion. That is to say, CCU is Unity’s first American “green” recognized church. We are grateful to each and every team mate whose dedicated effort helped to make this achievement possible.

Our team is inspired to implement activity along a prescribed series of Track steps as suggested by Unity Churches International EarthCare. Our energy is given to: Pray, Vision, Inspire, Learn, Act, Share, and Renew. Below you will note a brief list of some our team’s accomplishments. You are invited to contribute your own guidance to our healing vision. Come along and experience “soul growth from the ground up.”

* Reverend Alice includes a green earth consciousness in her sermons.
* we have begun a comprehensive recycling education program at CCU.
* we established a “Green Board” both aesthetically lovely and highly informative.
* we introduced organically grown coffee for our Sunday fellowship.
* we host Green Team Sundays where we cook and serve wholesome and healthful food.
* we present green team movie nights which feature intelligent films with hopeful and timely environmental themes

* we received a free energy audit from Orlando Utilities Commission so we could reduce     our church’s carbon footprint and have acted upon those recommendations.
* said goodbye to Styrofoam cups, paper plates, and plastic utensils in Hightower Hall
* we have purchased an energy star rated dishwasher

* we have had and will have group trips to learn the latest green-oriented technologies

* we are tithed a 100 gal. rain barrel for recycling our water.
*we sponsor in-church education presentations on safe living in your home, how to recycle and why, and the secrets to organic gardening

From the Office of Dr. James Trapp
President Association of Unity Churches International
May 18, 2010

"In times when it seems circumstances are out of our control, we can pause and go within. Take this moment to go within and find the peace that is God; find the order that is ever-present within and around us all.

We affirm and have faith that the Universe is well ordered and even now, in the seemingly overwhelming conditions of the Gulf Coast oil spill, God is at work through nature, through the minds and hearts of the people repairing and cleaning the spill.

Even now, there is order in the ocean as it rallies to recover, repair and heal. All the creatures of the ocean and surrounding areas that are affected are part of the process that is unfolding. Our faith tells us that from the darkness comes the dawn … a new day is at hand.

We now affirm that we come out of this experience with a deeper understanding of how precious our waters are. We are inspired to act in ways that nurture and heal our earth and its oceans, rivers, lakes and streams. We are filled with knowledge and a deep spiritual understanding of what is ours to do. We take action with confidence, knowing we are part of the Divine Order that is unfolding in this and every circumstance and condition.

We are grateful for solutions, for wise actions, for swift healing.

And so it is.

Amen."
