Meet the Chaplains
"The Prayer Chaplain Training has taught me how to hold sacred space to make prayer more heart centered. I was able to utilize these techniques while serving as a pall bearer during recent family funerals". ~ Chaplain Albert Byrd aka; The Prayer Bear
"Being a Prayer Chaplain is very important in my life. It has blessed my life. I feel very connected to God and feel this blesses every area of my life. To know God is to serve others and I love serving as a Prayer Chaplain". ~ Chaplain Kelly Jansen ~
"Being a chaplain, thus far, has brought to me serenity, calmness and a much greater appreciation of life, and where I am in life on my spiritual path. As I understand where others may be and the overwhelming challenges that they may face, I understand that my life is in perfect divine order. Others are, too, and I am blessed to be in a position to connect with others that may be in a time of need (as I may have been in the exact same position(s) in my life as well)". ~ Chaplain Kurt Alter
"Being a chaplain is a blessing and a wonderful way to serve God. By serving God I fulfill my purpose, which is to know God. My life is blessed when I can assist others, and perhaps help them to know God more deeply". ~Chaplain Betty Alter~
Being a chaplain means to me that I am in the WAY of GOD...serving, loving and assisting our community to move further down the path of our personal spirit's life journey...seeking a closer walk with the God of our understanding.Being chaplain at CCU has given me the opportunity to make many wonderfull new friends quickly and at a deep intimate level of being.....plus the blessings resulted from this ministry are many, varied and abundant. ~Chaplain John Bergstrom~
I was both called to and was shy about praying with others. Early on though I learned that the process had very little to do with me. It is really about inviting others into a sacred prayer space. Calling upon the faith which helped guide me here, I open to the unique spiritual quality of a kaleidoscopic community of gentle souls in prayer. I lose myself or perhaps more accurately find my true self as God's loving energy works through me. I have learned over time to trust that healing is occurring. Yes, I can now feel the blessings. It is with humble gratitude that I am again called to serve my fellow congregates in this intimate way. The energy is not even mine. There is rest, peace, and ultimately awe knowing Thy Will Be Done. ~Chaplain Ron Habin~
"Serving God through prayer with my brothers and sisters has made me acutely aware of the presence and power of God in my life" ~ Chaplain Julie Shepherd~
